Derbyshire Police have launched a long-term campaign of action to target serious and organised crime in Buxton.
This is a vital initiative and the police have my total support. This is why, having spoken with the police, I have been calling on the Government to scrap its plans to set up an asylum dispersal centre in Buxton until these issues with organised crime and drugs have been eliminated.
The Home Office know about this police campaign. I am therefore baffled why they are trying to place vulnerable asylum seekers into this area. It is clear that the Home Office’s right hand doesn’t know what its left hand is doing.
I once again call on the Government to listen to the local police, local council and local community and scrap its plans to convert High Peak Halls.
