The Government is proposing changes to how local government is organised in order save costs, streamline accountability and improve public services. They would see smaller district councils, like High Peak Borough Council, and large county councils, like Derbyshire County Council, disappear with new larger single authorities created to replace them.
Derbyshire Conservatives are proposing a mega council covering all of Derbyshire run from Matlock. I don’t think that best serves the best interest of us here in High Peak.
