This week in Parliament I spoke about the crisis in farming finances, and the need to bring down their costs to make them profitable and sustainable.

Farms are energy intensive, so the rise in fuel costs over recent years has taken many farms to the brink. Twelve thousand (12,000) have been lost since 2010; many of them in High Peak.

I talked about the need to deliver homegrown cheaper energy and the chance to plug their renewable energy projects into the grid.

That is why I am backing the family run dairy farm off Marsh Lane and their energy storage project. This is exactly the type of project I was talking about.

The energy storage will comprise less than 5% of the family’s overall farm. It is on low grade agricultural land, right next to a substation so can be plugged straight into the grid, and most importantly will provide them with an income that will make their dairy and milk delivery business sustainable.

Projects like this are vital for the future of farming. They help deliver economic growth and by providing clean energy, are vital to our commitment to achieving Net Zero.

I hope common sense prevails tomorrow and they get the planning approval they need.
We gave you our word at the election that we would deliver the bypass - and that is exactly what we are doing. 👇🏼
Today I voted in favour of the Terminally Ill (End of Life) Bill as it was passed in Parliament.

I continue to have some concerns about the protections in the Bill but this is only the first stage in the process. I will continue to engage and seek improvements to the Bill as it proceeds.
Here is the update on my meeting with Northern 👇🏼

Today's services across High Peak are threadbare and unreliable. We need to get this sorted. I'll demand change when I meet with them next week.
I’m in Glossop at Bradbury House until 3pm for my cost of living drop-in event. Hope you can join us for free advice from a range of organisations and a cuppa!

I've been out selling Poppies to the good people of Chapel-en-le-Frith this morning.

Please do support the Royal British Legion and our veterans by buying a Poppy as we enter this period of remembrance.
Yesterday I spoke in the debate about introducing new employment rights for workers in High Peak and across the country.

Labour’s Employment Rights Bill delivers on a key manifesto pledge and will provide the biggest step forward in workers’ rights in a generation.

I chose to focus on the vital reforms the Bill will deliver for young families and in particular new mums in High Peak.

UPDATE: GAMESLEY COMMUNITY CENTRE

So pleased that closely working with the Helen Thornhill, Danny McLoughlin and Mike Greenwood of the Gamesley Community Group, the local Councils and Cllrs Damien Greenhalgh and Anthony E. Mckeown that we have restored community access and use of the centre once again.

The great news is it looks like we're going to have a sustainable future for Gamesley Community & Sports Centre owned by the local community.
