𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 I've been out selling Poppies to the good people of Chapel-en-le-Frith this morning. Please do support the Royal British Legion and our veterans by buying a Poppy as we enter this period of remembrance.
Yesterday I spoke in the debate about introducing new employment rights for workers in High Peak and across the country. Labour’s Employment Rights Bill delivers on a key manifesto pledge and will provide the biggest step forward in workers’ rights in a generation. I chose to focus on the vital reforms the Bill will deliver for young families and in particular new mums in High Peak.
𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧v𝐞𝐫s𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 💬 The High Peak Labour team and I were out in Buxton last night speaking with people on their doorsteps. Big thanks to all those that spoke with us.
UPDATE: GAMESLEY COMMUNITY CENTRE So pleased that closely working with the Helen Thornhill, Danny McLoughlin and Mike Greenwood of the Gamesley Community Group, the local Councils and Cllrs Damien Greenhalgh and Anthony E. Mckeown that we have restored community access and use of the centre once again. The great news is it looks like we're going to have a sustainable future for Gamesley Community & Sports Centre owned by the local community.

𝐏𝐌𝐐 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐂𝐂 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐬 Today I raised the devastating Tory council care home closure plans with the Prime Minister. I mentioned the plight of a dementia patient facing the potential closure of a day centre in New Mills. The Jubilee Centre is on the list of care homes and day centres that could be closed if Conservative-led Derbyshire County Council implements its proposals.
𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐋𝐄𝐈𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐄 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 I met with local campaigners and sports groups earlier this summer and again at my recent Hayfield surgery about the proposed developments at the New Mills Leisure Centre. I welcome the multi million pound investment in the Centre by High Peak Borough Council, but I've written to them to encourage them to carry out a full public consultation and the widest range of options. I'll keep you updated.
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐋'𝐒 "𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘" 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 Temporary traffic lights shouldn't be having 3rd birthday parties. The Council needs to act and recover the cost from the homeowner.
