Today I raised the devastating Tory council care home closure plans with the Prime Minister. I mentioned the plight of a dementia patient facing the potential closure of a day centre in New Mills. The Jubilee Centre is on the list of care homes and day centres that could be closed if Conservative-led Derbyshire County Council implements its proposals.

𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐋𝐄𝐈𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐄 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄

I met with local campaigners and sports groups earlier this summer and again at my recent Hayfield surgery about the proposed developments at the New Mills Leisure Centre.

I welcome the multi million pound investment in the Centre by High Peak Borough Council, but I've written to them to encourage them to carry out a full public consultation and the widest range of options.

Temporary traffic lights shouldn't be having 3rd birthday parties. The Council needs to act and recover the cost from the homeowner.

I was a guest on ITV's Granada Debate programme last week, where I highlighted the 50% increase in child poverty in High Peak, the failure of the previous Conservative government to deal with it and the new Labour Government’s mission to make sure every child has the best possible start in life.

I'm aware of the huge disruption caused by the sinkhole on the A6015, Hayfield Rd.

I've been in touch with Derbyshire County Council, United Utilities and Stagecoach Manchester about the need to complete the repair as soon as possible and get transport links back working.

I've been working closely with County Councillor Anne Clarke for New Mills & Hayfield who's been equally as tenacious in keeping the pressure on.

We'll keep you updated on any developments.

I'm so pleased to confirm that hundreds of students in High Peak are set to benefit from free bus travel to colleges in Greater Manchester from September this year after Claire Ward - East Midlands Mayor confirmed the scheme today.

I was honoured this week to make my 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡 in Parliament as your MP.

I spoke about how incredibly proud I am of High Peak’s history, culture and countryside and how for too long we have been overlooked. Well no more.

It’s high time High Peak got its fair share.

📺WATCH: HIGH PEAK DENTAL DESERT

Today I raised the issue of access to NHS dentistry services in the High Peak with the Health Secretary in Parliament.

After speaking to over 16,000 people on doorsteps over the last two years many anguished residents told me their difficulties in finding an NHS dentist or being forced to go private.

I’ve heard stories of families having to wait years to find an NHS dentist or having to travel miles to find one in other parts of the country.

This is not fair. High Peak deserves better.

I will continue to campaign on this issue and raise it in parliament until we get our fair share of NHS dentists here in High Peak.
